I want fiber. Fiber cables start on my property. It says fiber isnt avail to me

The database shows fiber isnt available in my area. The fiber cables start at my property through easement. The cables cross my street to service new construction.

How would I go about it procedurally to get fiber to my house?

If I cant then is this a violation of easement due to the fact I dont have this utility available to me?

Maybe I am wrong and I just need to ask for a technician. The reason is because the fiber serves a street across my street. Therefore the fiber cables go under my street to get to the street about 700 feet away. Now, the lots are mainly empty because the developer hasnt been able to sell houses. My property is decades old and perhaps that is the reason. well, the cables sit on my property on the front of the street.

What is going on?

I do know they are trying to push dedicated fiber to me. However, the utility isnt avail if I ask for home products.

Fiber line underground is the tip marker…

however fiber to an address requires planning and deployment, in your stated case to a new subdivision, not your existing neighborhood.

If your address was not planned for will need to wait till it may be sometime in the future. ATT current 10 year plan is to provide fiber to 30+ million addresses by end of 2025. This is 50% of the footprint meaning the other half will not have fiber by end of 2025.

Short of moving to where the fiber service is available need to wait for an IF, WHEN future.

Hey there @mitlisp. We understand that you want our Fiber internet service, and we'd be happy to answer your question on why service might not be available yet.

We'd recommend checking out our information on when faster AT&T speeds is going to be available. You can also sign up to be notified when Fiber internet service is available at your address.

There are a few factors that could be preventing your address to have Fiber internet service:

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. As above, this could mean a neighbor may have it but service was not expanded to your home. We do not have information if or when it will be. If you have 1 Gig Fiber and want to upgrade to 5 Gig, please be patient with us we work to expand that footprint.
  3. The area is not built for AT&T Internet/ Fiber – some areas are not internet ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be since installation is factor dependent as mentioned at the top of the page. Distance and equipment can also play a factor in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services the area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!
  5. For some internet services, what is offered during the point of sale is an estimate. Most of the time, what is offered will be installed. To determine if service is available, our techs will perform tests beforehand and let you know of any issues.

Please reach back out if you have any further questions. Thanks for contacting the AT&T Community Forums.

Hello Robert,

First of all, thank you for replying.

I would like more help therefore I have a few answers to each bullet point but I need assistance to get the others.

(Edited to remove personal information)

  1. Distance – There is an orange q-tip buried on my property. It says fiber optic cables are buried underneath so that it doesnt get damaged. The cables are in my property.
  2. Equipment is not available – If for some reason fiber equipment needs I'll give AT&T permission to run a line through the ground. I own the land with no deed restrictions
  3. The area is not built for AT&T Internet/ Fiber - Can I have this investigated
  4. Another competitor services the area: Answer No, because AT&T has exclusive rights in my area.
  5. To address this I would like to request a tech to come here.

Thanks for reaching back out to us @mitlisp

We appreciate @my thoughts for providing that helpful information.

Just to confirm, were you able to talk to a representative that was able to set up to get you a dedicated line for you to get Fiber service at your house? This is to see if we'd need to raise a ticket to have your address researched for Fiber service.

Also, we're unable to delete your post for you, but you should be able to delete your own post due to your personal information.

We look forward to hearing from you.
