Has anyone ordered Hypergig yet, preferably in Austin?

Just curious what the process looks like with upgrading to the 5gig plan. I ordered it yesterday and I've read they may send a tech out or remotely provision my current RG? I've got the BGW320 which does have a 5 gig port.

If you already have a BGW320 (and assuming that you do not have a separate ONT), they should be able to provision it remotely.

Ok, thanks @JefferMC

A remote provision would be ideal, but if not, hopefully won't be charged for a truck roll. I'm scheduled to call ATT later to find out the next steps so I'll update the thread after the call.

Actually there is a chance you will need a new SFP+ Optical transitive for your BGW320-50x (500 or 505) in cases where your initial install was on GPON with either Normal Optics or Alt Optics.

Your Fiber circuit has to be on a XGS-PON Splitter at your local PFP to support 2 / 5 GB service. A little more complex then just a remote provision request.

@golfatx keep this thread updated as you move to Fiber 5000.

Thanks, @dave006 I'm in a new development and my service and hardware was installed only about 8 months ago. I would think ATT would provide the necessary hardware for future proofing 5gig because this must've been in the works for at least a year. Either way, I'm looking forward to the increased speeds and the guinea pig title!

To confirm the 2000 and 5000 must be on 320 with XPON splitter.

This will be a RED SFP module not the GREEN which is for GPON.

If currently have GREEN a tech dispatch will be required to change the splitter connection at PFP and change the SFP module.

Thanks, @my thoughts

I checked and it is the green module, not red. Regarding the PFP, it looks like that is the box that services my neighborhood. Also, it doesn't sound like the wire will be dug up so I don't need to worry about getting it reburied.

Pretty quick and painless install. Tech was in and out within an hour. Speeds aren't quite what I'm expecting, but I'm also the second person in Austin to have 5gig installed (according to the tech).
edit - I am running the RG in passthrough to a UDMP with IDP/IPS enabled so I'm double checking that config and will run a real world speedtest
