Got a salesman saying fiber is available in my area, but when checking ATTs website it says it isn't?

Hi, A while ago I got a door-to-door salesman saying ATT fiber is available at my address, but whenever checking your website, it says the fastest internet I can get is only 75 Mbps at $45/mo. Any idea why?

Yes... speeds of 25/2, 25/5, 50/10, 75/20, 100/20 are delivered from a VRAD or Video Ready Access Device. These units are Fiber To The Node or FTTN with last distance copper. The shorter the distance the faster the speed available.

For Bonded Pair installs on K or N card with copper distance under 1000 feet from the FIBER can receive internet 100/20. For same bonded pair card increasing the copper distance from 1000 ft to about 1800 ft is internet 75/20. Increase the copper distance speeds continue to drop.

FIBER TO THE NODE was ATT deployment from 2006 to end of 2015 reaching over 33 million addresses within then ATT footprint. Some of these FTTN have been upgraded to FTTP or Fiber To The Premise which currently offers speeds up to internet 1000 for a price.

Was the sale person lying, no... it is fiber based service available in your neighborhood. Is it direct fiber to your home with an ONT installed in home to convert the light to usable service for the ATT gateway, no... but you did not say the salesperson said it was, only that it is fiber. With ATT FTTN, currently I estimate about 26 million addresses and ATT FTTP at 14+ million brings total fiber addresses to 40+ million or about 53% of all ATT addresses.
