FiberFast Offnet-43 option?

I received information stating that Fiber is available to me, just needed extended to an “Offnet-43” option through “FiberFast” through ATT’s facilities check.

How do I even go about asking to get setup for Fiber then in my area?  Comcast is HORRIBLE over here and way more expensive than ATT’s packages.

Hi agriffin10, we're happy to see that you're interested in AT&T fiber.

We recommend that you visit our article that covers how to check your address and learn why service may not be available yet. When you see crews digging or placing cable, there's a chance that fiber is on the way.

We're continually working to expand our fiber footprint to more households. To check if service is available to you now or to sign up for a notification if it becomes available in the future, please visit att.com/NotifyMe.

If you have any other questions about AT&T fiber, just let us know.

Zip code?

Offnet is not service owned by ATT but someone else, ATT in essence becomes a CLEC not the ILEC.

An example is EarthLink reselling ATT Internet. In this case a different provider owns the line.

from quick search….

https://www.masterstreamerp.com/blog/on-net-vs-off-net-a-tale-of-two-connectivities

  1. On-net service, which refers to a carrier that owns network facilities at a specific location, is already connected at that location. By contrast, off-net connectivity refers to a solution provider that has connected to the location by purchasing use of the local network facility through a supplier relationship

This might be a GFast arrangement (?)

@my thoughts

Zipcode is 46360

As far as what, I’m not sure. Just shows up as FiberFast when I looked it up but I can’t find specific data.

Michigan City... ATT supplies some type of internet connection to 79% of addresses. Another company provides service to 17% of addresses including fiber... Acme Communications.

I suspect the offset provider would be ATT using Acme fiber for your address if ATT does not provide direct service...remember ATT covers 79%, thus about 4 out 5 while 1 in 5 would not be within ATT footprint but other option.

It should be noted EarthLink (reseller) offers service to 88%, I suspect reselling ATT and ACME Communications internet.

Acme does not provide unfortunately over here.  ATT does provide service to my area but, its only 10 Mbps by 1 Mbps at maximum.  The last time I had it, the house was able to hit approximately up-to 5 Mbps by 1 Mbps.

Earthlink provides 6 Mbps by 1 Mbps "dedicated" fiber but they stated they are not planning at all to expand speeds in our area.

For being a larger city, we have quite a few companies here but they do not provide an uplink for residential.  Zayo / IFN is also here but that is transport only or large-business only feeds.  It is frustrating honestly that we are locked in by Comcast right now where we are paying over $130 for service that is shared and supposedly up-to 1200 Mbps by 40 Mbps but on a GOOD day I am getting MAYBE 150 by 10.  And that is as long as it actually stays online for the whole day.

I know that I called in around the end of December and was told that fiber was supposed to be coming to our area between January and April but, I called earlier on the other day and they can't even give me information on it now.  This is the most frustrating part honestly.  I can't get an honest answer.

Area refers to zip code, not neighborhood or street…

while not up to date, at least 6 months old…

click on may to activate, then choose fiber, then zoom in

Where did you receive this information from since Acme, Eathlink, and AT&T don't provide Fiber to your address?

I had called prior and an ATT Representative that I had on the phone stated that they could see that between January and April, they were going to expand the fiber network into my neighborhood and the surrounding area.

@agriffin10

Sorry but the phone reps don't have visibility to future expansion plans. I was asking specifically where you got the Offset-43 information?

Also have you looked at T-Mobile 5G Wireless Home Internet since your Comcast does not appear to be performing up to their claimed speeds while you wait for a Fiber offering?

Ah, okay.  Sorry for the misunderstanding.  As far as receiving that information, I work as an ISP Escalations Manager and closely with Engineers and was provided a link to check for CLEC access, Closest Facilities, etc.  They know that I have been having quite a bit of an issue with my service.

As far as T-Mobile 5G services, I did look into the home internet but their cell coverage by itself has been extremely spotty where I am at and depending on the day and how the wind blows, it was hit or miss even then.  Would not hurt to check again though on my part so will do that shortly.
