Fiber.

I am in one of the only neighborhoods without AT&T fiber, last year around this time I left at 3 AM to go on vacation and saw AT&T working near a substation right outside my neighborhood. Then sometime around this year they were all outside (at least 5-8 cars from AT&T) my neighborhood and they sent a line down from a pole and with a cover with a sticker that says AT&T. Windstream (now kinetic) has left our neighborhood therefore we now have a open spot for AT&T to move in. Did a chat and they said they're working to move fiber to my area, most people have complained about charter and most of the hood has called in for a request. Any tips or information will be amazing, Thanks!

Why must it be At&t? Why not Verizon or google fi? That fiber pilled may be a backbone fiber or a direct fiber for emergency services a school or hospital just because fiber was pulled doesn’t mean it’s residential. We pulled fiber down the road for CHP and had people coming out yelling at us they wanted fiber since we were in the area. That’s not how it works

@Constructive Because ATT is the only people with fiber and some of them had a fiber splicing trailer with them. Im not even near a school or any place that involves the government.

Phone support people don’t know when or where fiber is being deployed. All you can do is wait to see if Att starts working in your neighborhood. If Att adds fiber to your neighborhood, it could take over a year to be done.

First Chat has on information as to current projects or future plans. The same applies to anyone the responds as @ATTHelp is limited to any specific engineering details.

If you live in a neighborhood that has a POA or HOA then a member of the board should contact AT&T Connected Communities to see what options may be available in a joint development project.

Do you currently have any AT&T services at your address or within your neighborhood?

You can check using this link: https://www.att.com/availability

We're happy to explain everything you need to know about Fiber availability and what you can do to request it, @pugler90!

First things first, AT&T is working on expanding internet service as fast as possible. There's a lot of planning, equipment, manpower, and time factor in. When is AT&T Internet coming to your neighborhood? We don't have a date.

What we can do is explain why it may not be available, what to look out for, and how to research your address. Here are just a few reasons why it may not currently be available:

- Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
- Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. As above, this could mean a neighbor may have it but service was not expanded to your home. We do not have information if or when it will be. If you have 1 Gig Fiber and want to upgrade to 5 Gig, please be patient with us we work to expand that footprint.
- The area is not built for AT&T Internet/ Fiber – some areas are not internet ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be since installation is factor dependent as mentioned at the top of the page. Distance and equipment can also play a factor in instances like this.
- Another competitor services the area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you.

Since you're already aware that it's not currently available, you can sign up for a notification if faster speeds do become available in the future.

We'll send you a notification via your preferred method as soon as AT&T Fiber becomes available to you.

Learn more about why AT&T Internet may not currently be available.

You can also fill out our address research request form. This will provide us with the information that's needed in order to check for the availability of service in your area.

Please feel free to reach back out if you need help in the future! Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!
