Fiber installed how long till availability
In June Att sub contractors put fiber in our sub division. Digging lines and putting the boxes above ground every so often. Work seems to be done now. My question is how long does it typically take before I can order the service. I keep checking the availability but it just keeps offering me their 25mbps service (blah). Also will they canvas the area with door hangers or anything when it’s ready? I want to be first to get it lol. I have 2 isps right now due to connectivity issues with Cox, but T-Mobile isn’t good enough for my teenagers gaming.

Your experience may vary. In my case it was just about a month between them running the fiber and Fiber availability showing up as an upgrade possibility on my AT&T account. In some cases it is many months, to years. Availability of the necessary components can cause delays, as will the desire to get installers trained and turn up the neighborhood at once.

The final checkout of the fiber infrastructure is done by AT&T employees and can take 30-90 days depending on how big the service area 288, 432, or 864 service addresses.
Also the quality of the contractor install can impact AT&T / Contractor rework as needed.
Normally they put door hangers and or post card mailers if you are a legacy systems to tell you about a free upgrade to Fiber. Read the offer carefully.
You can always check about once per week at this link: https://www.att.com/availability to see if your address shows fiber available to order.
Note: you can try sections that were installed earlier before your street to get an idea if they are enabling in sections or just making the entire Fiber service area available at once.

Thanks Dave. Luckily our small town has fiber in most of it already our small HOA area has about 40 houses on 2 streets and they ran the infrastructure down both of them all at once. Fingers crossed for a speedy turnaround.

I'm interested in this too. Our subdivision and an adjoining one were wired in in March (fiber, taps, and address tags) with no other work noticed until a coupleof weeks ago when they ran underground to the 5 houses in the area not served from poles. Also they pulled two additional fiber cables along the perimeter side adjacent to where the fiber service already exists. All told it's around 200 residences.

Our house installation in suburban Atlanta after fiber run along street happened in about 5 weeks. Burial of cable from box at street to house happened about one week after that. Techs spending 2 days re-checking fiber run along street seemed to be a signal of impending house installations. All in all, very happy with installation and service. Highly recommend.
