Equipment return or recycle options

I received an email saying I was not required to return my modem and equipment but could send it for recycling. Problem is, none of the places listed are close to me, and the ones I contacted won’t respond other than to say they’ll get back to me. After a week I assume they’re not interested. What are my options?

First, I would be careful about taking the recycling e-mail at face value.  AT&T has been known to follow up the recycling e-mail with another one telling you that if you do not return the equipment within 21 days, they'll hit you with an unreturned equipment charge.

In that light, I'd suggest that you attempt to return the equipment by taking your account number and the equipment to your most convenient The UPS Store  or  FedEx Office  location (specifically these printing/shipping locations, not an actual carrier office or remote drop off).  Have them enter your account number, scan the equipment and give you a receipt.  Should they tell you that they cannot accept the equipment, many of them have a recycling option.  If you still have equipment in your hands, call Staples.

Worked like a charm! Even better than I thought it would. Thanks for the advice! 😀
