AT&T Fiber Status Check
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone might have advice or be able to weigh in on my situation. I've posted about this over a year ago, and feel its time to do it again. In 2021, we were informed that ATT Fiber was getting installed in our neighborhood. After many many many months it was installed on one singular street in our huge subdivision that its approximated two streets away from my house. I was told in February 2022 that it was coming to the rest of the neighborhood by AT&T technicians that were at our property for a different reason. I was told that they just had a meeting about the upcoming installation plans for our neighborhood and that our street will see them installing it within the next four months. Well its now March 2023, and there is still no Fiber, and coincidentally our ATT 50 mbps internet is getting problematic frequently. I've had two calls where ATT had to send out technicians to fix it, including redoing the wiring which was damaged underground somehow, and our router just straight up dying one night.
I just wish there was a point of contact at ATT that we could email and get a straight answer on what the situation is. Why does one street get Fiber, but not the whole neighborhood, even a year and half after it was installed. Before anyone chimes in with the "budgets,...planning,....and check with the local rep for more detailed info" I get it, but that doesn't explain the lack of logic to the process. My next door neighbor has ATT internet, and for whatever reason the fastest he can get is 25 mbps, meanwhile we have 50. Not sure how that's possible.
Please someone tell me it gets better. Or if anyone is in the Pflugerville, TX Market, please shed some light on whats going on.
TIA

We understand the want for faster speeds in your area, @MBrunicardi! Allow us to shed some light on your inquiry.
When it comes to knowing when fiber will be available we do not know, unfortunately. Dates can change which means telling you what is coming is near impossible. When it comes to why faster speeds aren't available, there are a host of reasons such as:
You can always sign up to be notified when fiber is available as well by filling out our notify me form. Along with that, if you believe you should have higher speeds, due to someone close to you having them, feel free to fill out an address resarch request form. Doing this will trigger our system to look into potential speeds at your residence. We thank you for your understanding.
Don't hesitate to reach back out if you ever need our assistance again. Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community Forums!

Hi Caleb,
thanks for sharing this information, it’s helpful and sheds a little light on the situation.
I guess I’m just confused for a few reasons:
1.) I received advertising that fiber was coming but that was nearly 1.5 years ago.
2.) The two technicians that have been out here, one of which was an AT&T engineer, said that it was coming soon, and that they were in the stages of connecting to the “nearby comms substation” and I was told that after expressing consideration to cancel my services.
I know you said there is no way to know, but surely there is a single person in the Austin market that can share whether there are or are not plans for fiber to come to our neighborhood. Are we on a ten year waitlist? Does the one street in our sub division get to be the only Fiber receivers?
I know you may not have the answers to these questions, it’s mostly just frustration with my existing internet experience and the lack of clarity on upcoming internet.
There are tons of homeowners in our neighborhood eager for Fiber, how can we collectively express that to AT&T?

Thanks for letting us know, @MBrunicardi.
There's a lot that goes into servicing an area like, permits requests, engineers creating blueprints, adding the lines, and other equipment. There is a lot that goes into it, so you can begin to understand why it may not be available right away.
There are many crews digging lines, placing equipment, and working on the backend to get service up for many neighborhoods. Unfortunately, there is only so much manpower available. If it was a matter of yes or no, we would rather say yes than tell you it is not ready.
When you see crews digging or placing cable, there is a chance service is on the way. That is not always the case, digging could mean new water, gas pipes, or power cables.
Our teams do not have information if or when services will be available. We wish we did. The only thing we can do is what is mentioned above like checking your address, requesting a check, or request to be notified.
We do see that you mentioned that you're unable to submit the address research request form. Try clearing your cache and cookies before attempting to resubmit the form. Something in your browser could be preventing the page from working correctly.
In addition to that, you may need to try another web browser. Sometimes, certain browsers can cause problems such as what you're experiencing now.
Let us know if this works! If not, we may need to submit a ticket on our end.

Hi Lacey, the link for research request is still not working. I've cleared my cache and cookies. It says my address if not available.

Thanks for letting us know @MBrunicardi.
In order to further help with your request for Fiber internet service, and your address research request, we'll need to meet in a DM. We'll need to authenticate your account, so we can raise a ticket to research your address for Fiber service. Please check your Direct Message inbox (it's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).
We look forward to hearing from you.

As you now know there are no public plans available to customer as to where/ when / or if Fiber will be available at any specific neighborhood or address. Since as soon as someone promises you a specific date something forces that date to change. Not the techs fault just the plans have a way a ever changing.
It is possible as it is distance based. The further away from the local equipment the lower the max speed. It starts at 100 (near the terminal), 75, 50, 25. Do you know if you have a bonded-pair install? That could account for your service being 50 Mbps and you neighbor only having 25 Mbps. They stopped bonded-installs in most markets and now it is just best effort speeds.
