AT&T Fiber availability

Half of my neighborhood has fiber internet access. I, unfortunately, live on the side of the neighborhood that is still not serviced with fiber. What needs to be done to complete fiber service for the entire neighborhood? I know several people have been asking for fiber on this side of the neighborhood and nothing has come to fruition. I am a long-time AT&T customer (> 20yrs) and would like to have fiber internet/tv, but cannot at this time.

Hi, jefferyjarrard, we understand the desire to get the fastest possible Internet speeds, especially when it's available nearby.

One key thing to keep in mind is that AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you're too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This would explain why homes in the surrounding area have fiber, but your doesn't. It's likely that fiber wasn't expanded to your home, and sadly, we don't have the ability to tell you if or when it will be.

For more information about fiber availability, we recommend visiting our article that discusses AT&T Internet availability and your home in greater detail. You'll learn about why it likely isn't available at the moment and how to be notified if/when it is.

If you have more questions about fiber availability or anything else, let us know.

Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community Forums.

I understand your frustration with not having access to fiber internet while half of your neighborhood does. The best course of action would be to contact your internet service provider and inquire about the possibility of bringing fiber internet to your area. You can also reach out to your local government representatives and inquire about any plans or initiatives to expand fiber internet access to your neighborhood. It may also be helpful to gather support from other residents in your area who are interested in having fiber internet and collectively advocate for its installation.

One potential avenue for addressing this issue could be to reach out to AT&T directly to express your interest in having fiber internet/tv service in your area. They may be able to provide more specific information on the status of fiber expansion in your neighborhood and any potential plans for future expansion.

In addition, it may be worth contacting your local government representatives to see if they have any insight into the process for expanding fiber infrastructure in your area. They may be able to provide guidance on next steps or connect you with resources to help advocate for fiber expansion in your community.

Ultimately, expanding fiber internet service can be a complex process that requires coordination between multiple parties. However, by expressing your interest and advocating for expansion, you may be able to help move the process forward.
