Will ATT Technician Run Fiber Optic Cable Through My Attic

Good question that will likely vary based upon your location...

In our area of the midwest (Milwaukee market) basement and crawl spaces are available and the preferred method of installation. Next is a house wrap, attaching wire to side of premise to desire location. Least desirable is attic, both due to employee safety and potential property damage if step thru ceiling. In 10 years I have been performed attic install 3 times into closets, no wall fish..., all with the assistance of the home owner. 

In areas where there are no basement, only cement slabs attic installs might be more common. Best to ask your tech during the walk thru before work is started. 

I would recommend bring the fiber and ONT into a room that has ethernet feed back to your networking area.... ONT in room, use the existing ethernet feed to place the gateway in your network closet. 

If desire a specific layout, may be better to hire a low voltage wiring company to install beforehand if not a DIY project. The tubing with pull string is always good. Or could purchase and install the inside fiber beforehand from the NID area to network area.

Att techs don’t fish walls 

Run a 1/2- 3/4 inch conduit from the network closet to the outside wall on the side of the house where the fiber will enter the house. No 90 degree turns. Sweeping curves. Put a pull string in the conduit.  

@my thoughts - I think pre-wiring is a good idea while the drywall is not yet installed.

Can you or someone please confirm if I can use the following cable for ATT Fiber Optic Internet, and more importantly, if I can use this cable to run in-wall and in the attic? I am in Northern California. (I can get a lot faster shipment from amazon compared to the fibertronics which appears to be in FL)

Is the conduit necessary on pre wire... if ever plan on needing the fiber replaced or upgraded... yes. 

Should the link product work, yes... Single Mode fiber with SC/APC both ends. 

Will your fiber drop be buried in the ground or coming from a pole?

Buried tech should be installing an outside FIBER NID, aerial from pole preferred is straight in to ONT but NID can be placed. 

Will your fiber drop be buried in the ground or coming from a pole? - I am not sure what this means. But there is already a NID box near the electrical meter outside the house.

If I am pre-wiring now, and knowing where the existing NID is, is it a safe bet to run the optical cable from NID to my network closet, or do I need to know where my fiber drop is coming from? 

By the way, I noticed that optical cable has OS1 and OS2 ratings. Which one does ATT tech uses nowadays? Does 9/125um means OS2?

Does your current copper service come from a pole? If yes, the fiber should also...

And yes, I would expect the fiber to enter the home is the same area that the copper is. If your outside line is buried to the house, is there access to bury the fiber... not a patio or deck blocking burial. If there is no access the tech may enter at a different point as the fiber does not require electrical grounding that the copper NID did.
