[Fiber] Where's my ONT?

I live in an apartment building. In my bedroom closet, there's a panel containing what looks to be a coax splitter and a mess of cables.

However, my building also has a telecom room in the garage. It's only accessible to staff. I peeked in once and saw a AT&T ONTs wall to wall. Is that where my ONT is, or should, be?

My living room wall has a red outlined Ethernet jack. I plugged in my AT&T supplied gateway, but I don't get a connection. What's the most likely problem -- an unplugged ONT in the garage? Or a missing ONT in my bedroom closet?

Is this a new self-install?

If yes then you likely have what is called a failed self-install. Your best bet is to call AT&T at 800-288-2020 and schedule a tech to resolve the issue.

In many Apartment and Condo buildings the ONTs are located Telco room with Ethernet running from the Telco room to your unit's Network panel. Then it is normally patched to one outlet as you indicated in your post.

It depends on how big your building is there could be a Telco room on each floor.

However your unit could also be wired with Fiber direct to your Network panel in your bedroom. So it could a missing ONT that a previous tenant or clean up crew mistakenly removed.

We're here to help you get online, rarino!

As dave006 stated, this seems like a self-install, as a technician would have finished the setup on your end.

If you are needing to find the ONT, your best option is to reach out to your apartment complex, and see if they are able to get you access. If not, we would be more than happy to work with you to get a technician to you.

Let us know which works best for you. We hope to hear back from you!
