Fiber Optic and Landline Phones
I will be getting fiber optic in a few days and was wondering if I will still have my landline service.

That depends on what you ordered. If you ordered AT&T Voice, and signed off on porting your number and closing your POTS line, then you will no longer have POTS, but will have AT&T's VOIP service, called AT&T Voice.
It is possible to have Fiber Internet/TV service and still keep POTS. Once you disconnect POTS, it'll be nearly impossible to get it back.

A neighbor of mine has a VTech phone answering system and land line that stopped working a week ago along with her cable going out. AT&T sent a new router, which was installed today. The cable is working again, but we can’t get the phone to work. Our neighborhood recently had an upgraded fiber optics installed. Wondering if she needs to replace her VTech system?

If the VTech worked before, it should still work now. Ideally, if you have another phoneset, confirm that it works any differently from the VTech. What type of service is this "land line?" Digital Voice (VOIP) or POTS?

I still have POTS in my house as well as a new installation of ATT Fiber here in the southern part of Miami. Just bought an old wooden phone book with an old dial payphone. Any idea how I find an "Old Timer", likely retired Bellsouth technician from the olden days, who can help me hook it up? Dial on the payphone sticks a bit as well. Sorry if I offend anyone with the Old Timer use but no youngster knows what I'm talking about! Is there a website of retired Bellsouth techs that I can post my inquiry to? Thanks!

I have a question very similar to astltl's: "I will be getting fiber optic in a few days and was wondering if I will still have my VOIP landline service."
I currently have a "Phone 200" plan and VOIP landline out of my gateway. When I put in my online fiber 300 order, no mention was made of phone.

Switching to fiber should not affect your AT&T Phone VOIP service. If you get a new Gateway, it should also have a phone jack for you to plug into, just like your existing Gateway.
