broadband blinking red during installation

I am attempting to install my new equipment (BGW210 Gateway) and have followed the instructions on the smart home management app. However, the broadband light blinks red during the activation and then the activation fails. 

The Power and PON lights on the at&t box are green, and the data light is orange.

Press and hold the red reset button on the back of the gateway until it restarts. If the install still fails, call 800-288-2020.
