AT&T Fiber Cable?

The way my foundation and basement are configured, I need to have an electrician pre-run a cable from outside the house to my basement. My understanding is AT&T Technicians won't run cable inside the house to an interior room (not adjacent to the exterior wall). My question is, if I need to have an electrician do this, what kind of cable do I have him install? Also, would it be easier to have an electrician install a conduit (PVC?) pipe from the outside to the inside so the AT&T Tech could run his able all the way in?

Hi, @shanonp.

It would be difficult to determine exactly what would need to be done to your home and the inside wiring without being present at the location. For new AT&T Fiber installs, meaning there has never been AT&T Internet service for 100 MBPS upload and download speeds or more at the address, are typically done by running a Fiber line to an exterior wall of your home or apartment and ran through to the inside of the home where an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) will be installed to translate the fiber to data signals. The gateway will then be wired to the ONT to connect to the network.

Our technicians can do inside wiring such as wall jack installation and repair and running lines through walls, floor boards or ceilings for a fee during the installation or a repair appointment. With this being said, the technician would best be able to determine what would need to be done and how at the premises. Let us know if you have any questions about this, we are here and happy to help.
