Using Asus Router with IP Passthrough on BGW320
I'm trying to use my Asus 802.11AC router instead of the ATT provided BGW320. I want to be able to change the DNS so that I can run a network-wide adblocking service.
I plugged in the asus router, connected it to the bgw320 via ethernet cable, went into the bgw320 settings and turned on ip-passthrough, gave it the MAC address of the asus router, and saved the settings. I turned off the 2.4/5ghz wifi connections on the bgw320 and set up the asus router to host the wifi. The problem arises when I try and connect to the asus routers wifi. Most of the time my computer tells me "Connected, no internet", and sometimes it will actually give me internet, but only for about 30 seconds.
I've already attempted to contact ATT support via the live chat, and they were not able to get it working. Not sure if I missed a step or what. Any help would be appreciated, and I can give more info if needed.

You are connected to the asus wan port? Restart your asus router. The gateway and asus have the same lan ip?

There is an ethernet cable running from one of the LAN ports on the BGW320 to the WAN port on the ASUS router. The LAN IP's are different between the two routers.

Is the WAN IP of the ASUS the same as your Public IP (see whatismyip.com)? If not, you'll need to try the reboot dance.....power both units off, power on the BGW320, give it a few minutes, then power on the ASUS. It may take a few of these.
If you do have the WAN IP matching the Public IP or if the reboot dance doesn't work, then we suggest doing a factory reset on the BGW320 (hold reset button down for >15 secs). That will wipe everything out and you'll have to start over, but we've seen these gateways do weird things that the reset clears up.

Start over from scratch. Factory reset both devices. Follow these instructions.

Then setup your asus as a wireless router. Connect the asus using its wan port

The WAN IP of the ASUS router is 0.0.0.0 as there is no internet connection being fed to the ASUS router. The ASUS router's DNS is the same as the BGW320 IP address, and it says the Lease is expired.

I factory reset both routers and followed the steps in that link and the router says it now has an internet connection, however my computer (when connected wirelessly) still have no internet access.

Confirm you are connecting to the correct network. When setting up the asus router, you should have been prompted to name the Wi-Fi network.

I set up the ASUS router while it was still plugged into the BGW320, but I unplugged the WAN port connection on the ASUS router and am setting it up again. I am now presented with a window asking for a Host Name and/or a MAC Address for the Automatic IP connection setup. Any idea what this is?

And yes, I was on the correct network. I set up the SSID for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands on the ASUS router along with passwords, and had my laptop wirelessly connected, with no internet.

Our ACEs have already given some great advice regarding starting over and factory resetting both of the devices. It looks like you've seen some progress with that approach. We'd like to recommend a couple additional resources to help get this fixed.
We also recommend double checking that your gateway is correctly set up for IP passthrough by following the steps provided in the link @browndk26 provided. Just in case!
