Poor upload speeds started 3/20/23 Am I being rate limited?

I work from home. I have ATT Fiber 1000 and for the past 1.5 years it has been running smoothly, I recently started experiencing slow upload speeds, about 1/10 or 90mbps at most. Its like im being rate limited to 100mbps Upload or something. Its beginning to impact my voice/video calls during the day as I suspect that if I'm only getting at most 90mbps uploads to speedtest servers. I'm probably getting only a fraction of it to others(Voice/Video servers, etc...).

I've gone through and checked and replaced wiring. Topology of my network is ONT -> CAT6 cable -> ATT Gateway -> CAT6 cable -> PC. I've tried from both my laptop and desktop both with wired connections to the BGW-210. Restarted both BGW-210 and ONT.

I've spoken with support who say my ONT is receiving the correct speeds however.  However I'm beginning to suspect its an issue further upstream with ATT at the CO with a Card. Not sure how I can get ATT to take a look further upstream

Here is a speed test from tonight

and history of from the past day

Seeing the same glitch here - Metro Detroit area: fiber just went in a few days ago and speeds Up & Down were great at first.  Upload speeds have since fallen off a cliff - down to Single Digits at its worse!

Very frustrating.  Interesting that the AT&T android app claims speeds Down & Up to the "Home" (icon...) are Just Fine, but last test from "Home" to my Note 9 shows 65 down & 5.1 Up!

After seeing both of your guys' posts and that you're also in Metro Detroit (Detroit here) I'm nervous about how we are going to get this addressed. I also posted yesterday about the same issue although my wifi is limited to 30mbps and my ethernet upload is under 3mbps. Was perfectly fine up unti the afternoon of the 21st.

I am waiting on a replacement modem that's supposed to be here tomorrow. I have my doubts that it's going to work unless we received some bugged modem update. I will report back on if the replacement works.

Update 3/23/23 -

Still having same upload speed issues, @jkipila I agree with you, I don't think a modem replacement will the fix issue. Do you know what version you are running on your BGW, currently running Software Version  4.21.5 on the BGW210-700

Still don't know how I can get this escalated. Going to file an FCC complaint to get some better eyes on the issue. We shouldn't be paying for speeds we are not receiving.

Yes same firmware as you but I have a BGW320-505. The logs may be long gone but I may look around and see if an update was pushed to mine on 3/21. Or if it would even tell me that info.

I had a hard enough time telling chat support that even though tue ATT App test and tye modem itself are reporting normal speeds its not normal for any devices on wifi or ethernet.

I may have to get the modem, confirm it didnt fix, schedule a tech, and then sit down and show him what this issue looks like. It might be the only quick way to get it escalated. Talking to phone support may not be.

The firmware theory isnt too wild if he takes the fiber out of my gateway and tests are normal with whatever device he uses.

If you find out anything before me let me know and I will do the same.

Also in Metro Detroit and also experiencing insanely low upload speeds as of the last couple days. I'm using the ATT gateway as a passthrough for the Nest Router/Point as I need further reach than the gateway provides as we work from home in a detached garage.

According to the ATT test, Gateway is getting 662/576, but once passed through my Nest router, we're at 563/14 to my iPhone, and our two laptops are similar download speeds but under 5mbps for uploads.

I thought this was a Nest issue, but based on all the comments above, it seems like perhaps this is on the ATT side. I spent hours on the phone troubleshooting with Google last night and they could not see any reason why it was happening.

Driving me mad and I literally cannot get my work done as uploading files is a crucial part of what I do. What gives?

@rariya Sorry you have been plagued by this issue as well.

I really think there is a capacity issue in our area or a Card/Chassis in the ATT Central office near our area needs to be looked at or replaced. Not sure if they are routing us somewhere else while repairs are taking place. They could have a fiber cut upstream and limited capacity.

I understand peering/transit agreements between other ISPs and companies can get funky. The fact that the speed issues occur INSIDE of ATTs network is a problem.

If we don't get any action I would advise you file a FCC Complaint so we can get proper resolution on the issue.

I bet some of you have seen this looking around the forum but I bet you we will have to fight for this outcome (top comment)

Unfortunately I don't have the proper connector to test my gateway directly via ethernet to my laptop to test the speed that way which is why I was taking the ATT speed test results as fact. To be clear, you're all saying when you hook directly to your gateways via ethernet the upload speeds are not what ATT is claiming them to be?
