How do I get a BGW320 gateway?

I tried requesting a new gateway last year, but they said I was unable to get a BGW320. Has that changed yet? We’re now in 2022, and our household could really use Wi-Fi 6 for all of our devices.

Please let me know if there’s a specific team at AT&T that I can contact.

If you desire WI-FI 6 your best option would be to purchase a unit with this feature placing it behind the gateway using IP Passthrough.

Equipment shortage is still ongoing concerns, I do not expect that to change over next several months and possibly year(s).

NEW customers primarily receive the 320, a requirement if XPON splitter, while existing customers on GPON should be the 210.

If you have a 589, 599, or 5268 gateway call requesting a 210.
If you currently have a 210, you have a preferred gateway…

In short fiber accounts should have a BGW gateway of either 210 or 320.

Due to shortages of BGW 320s, I was just given a Nokia 020 ONT to be used with a BGW 210 during my new fiber installation.  Getting one on an existing fiber installation is going to be very, very tough at this point.

What happens if I switch to Spectrum for a while and then switch back to AT&T sometime in the future? Would that be considered a new installation worthy of a BGW320?

Perhaps.  You would already have an ONT, so you'd be eligible for self install without a truck roll.

If you have an existing ONT (010 white or 020 black) performing a self install would receive a 210.

The 320 with build in ONT would only be available as a full tech install ($99) requiring removal of current ONT with requiring of fiber connection.

@JefferMC at least the tech had a 020 ONT to install, something also rare and short supply. Otherwise this would have been a reschedule due to equipment shortage.

In our garage at least we have the RED SFP XPON to use as so few 020 ONT are available, still need the 320 to use SFP.

I requested a 210 and they sent me another 5268. Is it worth asking again? Or will they send me another 5268?

The warehouse apparently has more 5268ACs than BGW210s right now.  There is no telling which you'll get.

I'm wanting to get the bgw320 myself due to wifi 6 and built in ont, makes it more convenient.  According to my app I have issues with current ont and they want to send a tech out to me, would this be my best chance?

We can answer your question about getting a BGW320 gateway, MoneyTien8.

You can ask the technician if they have a 320 in their truck, but as JefferMC stated, they're in short supply, so there's no way to guarantee that one will be available.

If you have any other questions, let us know.
