Gig Fiber is throttled to 948mbps
Our gig fiber service seems throttled to 948mbps download and upload at 1250mbps. Before AT&T came out with the other options I was getting 1250 up and down. Is there a reason why I have been throttled in this fashion now?

Att equipment does not provide 10 g. Only 1, 2 or 5. Depending on what plan you pay for.

I really wish you would be truthful about this. It's not a loss that is occurring in this case, it is that the connection is being throttled down to a lower number. Utilization of any high end switch will allow for throttling to occur on download and upload. We both know this is being done at a set speed; else I would be receiving close to 10g speeds. All I am asking is it possible to request that the download speeds be changed to what I was receiving prior to the multi-gig offering at AT&T that occurred last month or the month before.

Apples and oranges. You are trying to discount my legitimate claim. You are representing the company by making the claim you are an employee in your signature. I've asked a legitimate question, and I just want a legitimate answer. You and the rest who have responded to this post have failed to provide anything meaningful. I've asked if the arbitrary number could be changed. Obviously you are not an AT&T network engineer, and you would rather discount my question. I'll send in an email to the CEO and have the executive team deal with this issue; as it appears that I cannot get a legitimate answer from your team.

Call for a tech visit. Maybe you are on the wrong splitter. Tech can answer your questions. Att does not provide 10 g to customers. No way currently you would get 10g at your home.
Tell us what the tech says after your tech visit.

Post back what AT&T replies. I would like to hear what they tell you.

They provide a 10g backbone, and then throttle the values to match the speed requested for each customer. This is all done in software, and I legitimately can't understand why people don't understand this. This is something that has been done for decades.
How do you think the 5g is capable of being received to a customer? There has to be some type of backbone to the customers house previously existing. 10g connections have been around for close to 20+ years now. N-Base is newer tech, and AT&T is utilizing it on the gateway. A cheaper method would have been for them to use a 10g port on the gateway; rather than the n-base.

Right so that was in April 2021. The overprovisioning is typical as it allows for customers to receive the higher gig speed. This was done prior to the multi gig offering of 2g and 5g. 1.25gb connections are typical in the fiber world for gig speeds. What happened after the multi-gig offering is the overprovisioning STOPPED, apparently on the download but hasn't on the upload. So my request is how do I get AT&T to once again overprovision so I receive the numbers I received prior?
