Fiber Modem Mgmt page opens by itself??

My wife is working from home and on her companies VPN. Hard wired connection to the modem. She goes on a break and comes back and the modem management webpage is up on the screen. Her IT dept says it was ATT or her internet went out. 
Is this an expected result of the internet dropping, the mgmt page opening by itself?
She's concerned someone hacked in etc but the only thing open was the modem mgmt page.

We'd be happy to look into why the modem management webpage is opening unexpectedly, killerinsideme.

 

So that we can try to determine if this is due to a glitch with the modem, let's see if restarting it helps. Unplug the power connection behind the modem for ~15 seconds, then plug back in and wait for the Broadband light to turn green. Let us know if page comes up again after she comes back to the computer.

 

Also, please let us know if the modem management page only comes up after a connection loss.

 

We'll be awaiting your response.

We actually do not know if the connection was lost as she was away when this occurred and experienced no issues when she returned. 
I'll reboot the modem tonight.

Can the mgmt page be locked down to require login? 

Not completely.  You must log in to make changes and visit certain pages, but many of the pages are available when not authenticated.  Yes, the Gateway may redirect users if the browser makes a request while it is having an issue connecting to the network resulting in the behavior you see here.
