Why did my $20 discount and $100 reward card go away?

I was told that if I switch to AT&T I would get a $20 discount on top of the promotion for being a new customer. I signed up for the Internet 300 plan that was $50 a month and with the discount the customer representative told me it was going to be $30 a month for the first year.

I just called in today to check up on the logistics of a tech coming in and was told that I was not getting the $20 discount and should expect to pay $50 a month. What gives? Why the bait and switch tactic. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. What happened?

I also did not receive my $100 reward card for ordering 300 internet service.

Do you have a screen shot of the offer from online?

Internet 300 is $60 a month, if sign up autopay and paperless billing combines is $5 discount which starts in 3 billing cycles thus initial is $60 per month with credits later for $55 a month.

The $100 Reward Card is only available if order online, if signed up with a person there is no card….

from the fine print details of website…

For new residential AT&T Fiber customers. $100 Reward Card w/ Internet 300 or 500; $150 Reward Card w/Internet 1Gig of higher plan. I confirmed my qualification for the $20 a month discount for 1 year and the $100 reward card with an ATT representative.  Then, I ordered online.  I do not have whatever was on the screen months ago.  However, it looks like the promotion is still running.  I qualify I just have not received either of the benefits.  How can I have this reviewed and resolved?  Thanks!

I did not receive a claim letter.  Online chat support said I'm sorry you don't get the promotion.  I have not received the bills credits and it's been the 1-2 bill cycles.

Hello @lkmiller,

We understand your concern and let’s get the help you need with $20 discount.

Upon checking out the discount for prepaid wireless the requirements are as follows:

  • A new line or service must be on a $65 to $85 monthly plan of unlimited data.
  • You would have to enroll into autopay before 4/11/2019 offer expires.
  • You will still receive the $20 autopay discount if you remain on the $65 to $85 unlimited plan.
  • If you decided to change to a different prepaid plan and then return to the $65-$85 plan, auto pay discount would automatically change to standard $10 discount.

Feel free to access the AT&T Unlimited Plans  for more information on autopay discount requirements.

We hope this helps!

Thank you.

The promotion does NOT require a new line or service.  It specifically says you need new or already have a wireless plan.  I have a wireless plan exceeding $100 monthly.

I enrolled and have paid at least 2 billing cycles in autopay.

I have not received the $20 discount and I have not changed my wireless plan.

I do not plan do change the autopay plan.

In face, I was adversely affected by ATT's policy change to charge a fee if I used a credit card to pay.  Since I did not want to pay extra to use my credit card I had to change my auto pay to pull from my bank account.  Now I no longer have phone insurance provided as a benefit on my credit card.

Here is the specific verbiage from the ATT website.  I confirmed qualification with an ATT rep for the $20 monthly discount and the $100 reward card.  Here are the promotions I am referring to:

Internet Savings Offer: Subj to change and may be discontinued at any time.  New residential customers who purchase an AT&T Fiber plan (300Mbps or higher) and have or subscribe to an eligible AT&T postpaid wireless plan will receive a $20/mo bill credit applied towards the internet bill w/in 2 bills.  Wireless billing and internet service addresses must match.  Must maintain eligible services for continued receipt of promotional discount. Wireless and internet services billed separately. One discount per customer account.  Employees, upgrades, and migrations to fiber not eligible.  Subj. to Internet Terms of Service at att.com/internet-termsReq’d WirelessPostpaid voice & data plan for smartphones (for new customers min. $60/mo. before discounts; $75/mo. before discounts for unlimited). An unlimited plan is not required. Add’l fees, taxes and other charges & restr's apply.

$150 REWARD CARD OFFER: Subj to change and may be discontinued at any time. Online only at att.com. For new residential AT&T Fiber customers only.  $100 Reward Card w/ Internet 300 or 500; Add’l $50 (Ends 11/8/23) when entering promo code EXTRA50 at checkout. Residents of select multi-dwelling units not eligible.

Reward Card: Will be sent email or letter with redemption info for each card offer. Redemption req’d. w/in 75 days from reward notification email or mail date Card delivered w/in 3-4 weeks after redemption to customers who maintain and pay for qualifying service through reward fulfillment. Card expires at month-end 6 mos after issuance. For Cardholder Agreement, go to rewardcenter.att.com. Card is issued by The Bancorp Bank N.A., Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. and can be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted in the United States, District of Columbia, US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. No cash access. The Bancorp Bank N.A. does not endorse or sponsor and is not affiliated in any way with any product or service offered by AT&T.

I already have a good understanding on the discount and reward card.  However, ATT has not provided either and this forum hasn't helped other than to tell me to call ATT.  :(
