Port 3479

I have a 5268 AC router and I am trying to port forward to get better online gameplay on my PS4. However everytime I try opening port 3479 the system does not let me. It says the service interferes with device managed port 3479. Does AT&T block port 3479 from being opened at all? Is there a way to bypass the block without putting my Playstation in the DMZ?

Yes, AT&T blocks 3479.

That is a great question about port forwarding, blakearey. We can help you with that.

When an interactive feature of a router is not working, then the first step is to a factory reset of the router. The reason why we want to do factory reset is, it clears out all errors and reverts the router to a time when you just received it. Here are the steps for the factory reset:

Press and hold the gateway Reset button for at least 10 seconds. If you let go before 10 seconds, the gateway will reboot, but it won’t reset.
Wait until the gateway restarts and all the status lights are lit.
See if the Broadband or Service status lights are solid green. If so, the reset worked.

After the factory reset, then you can redo the port forwarding. To help you get started, here are the steps:

Go to your gateway settings.
Select Settings, then Firewall, and then Applications, Pinholes and DMZ.
If you get a warning message, restart your Wi-Fi gateway. Then, continue with these steps.
Select the device you want to open to the firewall. If the device you want to open to the Firewall isn't listed:
- Select inside the text entry box.
- Select the X in the text entry box.
- Enter the IP Address of the device you want to open up to the Firewall.
If the device you want to open up to the Firewall is connected to the gateway but isn't listed:
- Confirm the device is properly connected to the gateway.
- Check the cables and wires connected to the gateway and device.
In Edit firewall settings for this computer:
- If you want to activate port forwarding, select the Allow individual application(s) option.
- If you want to deactivate port forwarding, select Maximum protection – Disallow unsolicited inbound traffic.
Select the Application from the Application List.
Select Add.
In Access Code, enter the Device Access Code located on your gateway.
Select Submit.
Repeat this process until all the ports you want to access have been configured and display in Hosted Applications.

Add a new user-defined application

Sometimes, an application you want to access isn’t listed. Learn how to add a specific application.

Good to know: To open the port, start with step seven.

Go to your gateway settings.
Select Settings, then Firewall, and then Applications, Pinholes and DMZ.
If you get a warning message, restart your Wi-Fi gateway. Then, continue with these steps.
Under the listed applications, select Add a new user-defined application.
In Application Profile Name, enter the name of the application.
Select the Protocol.
Enter the Port or Range you wish to open in the Port (or Range) From/To entry fields.
Use the default protocol timeout settings in the Protocol Timeout entry field unless directed to do otherwise by the manufacturer.
Enter the default Map to Host Port. By default, the port will map to the same port you specify in the Port (or Range) From/To entry field. Leave this field blank unless directed to do so from the manufacturer or application.
In Application Type, select the option that matches your application.
Select Add to list.
When prompted, enter the Device Access Code found on your gateway and select Submit.
Repeat this process until all ports you want access to have been added.

These steps should get that port opened to do can go back to gaming. Please update us and let us know if the port remains open. If it does not, then there is much more that we can do for you.

Lol yeah right. But I was having some online issues with a certain game that I didn’t have before so I looked at PlayStation support and it said to make sure certain ports are open and one of them was 3479. On other online games I often have no troubles so I am wondering if I should reinstall the game maybe that will help.
