Got charged $100 for technician visit though the issue was no fault of mine

Hi,

I lost my fiber internet connection a few weeks back. I called ATT and they assigned me a technician to repair it the next day. The technician came and diagnosed the issue as a cracked fiber cable caused by an installer putting in new service at a neighbour's house. He put in new wire and warned me that ATT would still charge $100, so he told me to call ATT and let them know not to charge because the issue wasn't due to any fault of mine, and to ask ATT to refer to the technicians notes for more details.

I called ATT and they said I would not be charged but now I get a bit for $200 for fiber and see the $100 technician visit charge. This is so frustrating.

Could someone at ATT support please help in removing that $100 charge from my bill?

I would really appreciate your help.

This is a customer to customer forum. Call Att. Ask for loyalty/retentions. See if they can help.

Hi there, ajnaresh. We undestand that you would like to dispute a charge on your bill for a tech visit for a outside repair. We can help you with that dispute.

Now we already have you in a direct message on another thread, that has not been closed out yet. We will resume that direct message.  Please go back this thread: ATT fiber increased by $10.

Looking forward to speaking with you soon.

Thanks Mathew. I created this thread because it was a different issue than the one I created before.

I am having a similar issue. A tree came down on the suspended fiber line during a terrible storm, and I'm being charged a tech visit fee for calling and having someone come out. Makes absolutely no sense.

@rhastreiter  sorry to hear that. I think that’s big business mentality like ATT’s. Wish they had laws against such practices. They bill us first and make us work to correct the issue and if not, it’s money lost.

Only saving grace is that the ATT support folks do a great job in resolving the issues. So far any issues I have had related to my bills have been resolved in a  timely manner.

Someone from that support team should be reaching out to you as well to get your details to refund back that cost.

Hi @rhastreiter, let's look into your bill dispute in a direct message. We understand that you would like to have a charge removed for outside repair.

In order to look into your account we will have to move this conversation into a direct message. Be on the lookout for a chat notification in the upper right-hand portion of the page, next to the bell icon. Once you're there, we can continue this over the phone or in chat if you'd prefer.

We look forward to speaking with you!

Hey, Did the technician provide you with any written notes or documentation that could support your case for not being charged for the repair?

Can you offer advice on how to escalate the situation within ATT's support structure if the charge is not being removed as promised?
