Is there anyway to tell if and when a certain area might get Fiber internet? I have Cox internet currently and am overly eager to switch, but I don't have fiber near me yet.
50% of Uverse hardwired internet service or 30+ million out of 60+ million addresses will have ATT fiber by end of 2025. Currently 22 million addresses already have that option with 8 million to be added over next 2.5 years.
Who, when or even IF is unknown until the build out is complete.
Most likely is NEW construction developments of apartment/ condo complexes along with new subdivision. Currently about 22% of all fiber is in MDU complexes.
NEXT most likely is current FTTN addresses where ATT offers internet 100 to internet 25 speeds, these addresses original had Uverse IPTV service option
LAST is current ADSL2+ addresses offering internet 18 or less.
Then have the LEGACY DSL addresses, estimated at 15 million that was never upgraded to Uverse platform due to economic feasibility... these addresses should have fiber to the cell tower option known as ATT AIR.
ATT Fiber is being offered in 100+ markets within 21 state hardwired footprint. If your not within this footprint your chances are zero, if within footprint with 8 million to be added with estimated 38 million waiting chances are around 21% or 1 in 5 will have fiber within next 2.5 years.
The only way to be guaranteed fiber is relocation to an addresses where service is already offered.
My zip code is 73110, and if I'm not mistaken the only internet offered is the 5 MB download speed. Someone I know just a half mile down the road already has it. So I was just curious if I could expect it soon was all. Thank you for the reply that was very informative and helpful!

https://broadbandnow.com/Oklahoma/Oklahoma-City?zip=73110
if best ATT current offer is internet 5… ADSL2+ chances are small
https://www.att.com/internet/availability/
ATT AIR or fixed wireless from other companies would offer faster speeds than internet 5

Hi, please check on AT&T website and if its not available at your location, there is an option to notify when the fiber is available at your location.
