Door-to-Door Sales Scam?
Hello ATT Forums,
Before I go into detail, all of this was of course in hindsight so please be respectful and not judgemental.
Today I was approached by a couple of door-to-door sales reps who claimed to be offering ATT fiber in my area. They seemed legit as they had a badge and did seem to have knowledge about their other competitors along with a bit of tech knowledge.
After hearing their sales pitch, my interest was piqued, and signed up for an installation. In hindsight, I realized I gave them a bit more personal information than I wanted to like contact information and ID.
After receiving a few confirmation emails from them, I just wanted to make sure the information and contact were legit and the whole thing was not a scam. The emails I was contacted with are as follows:
I did contact a legit phone number on the official ATT website to cross-reference the information and appointment I made for the installation and everything seemed to check out but I just wanted to give my self peace of mind.
Any insight and/or information about how legit this is will be much appreciated.
Thanks!

The individual(s) are NOT AT&T employees but can provide offers and service on behalf of AT&T. They work for a contracted company. This is especially true when AT&T fiber is being deployed in a neighborhood.

Hello @skeeterintexas,
thanks for reply. Just to confirm, it was safe for me to give these reps my information even though they seem like a 3rd party? Or was I just scammed?

They are 3rd party contractors selling AT&T products. There are nefarious characters everywhere so just make sure you receive the service you signed up for.
AT&T's Customer Service number is 1-800-288-2020

How do we know at the time of sale its authentic though? I had this happen 3 weeks ago and it appears I was scammed, they used somewhat legitimate sign up portals but ended up walking away with my personal information, a card payment on their device, and a veil of authenticity. Its only till weeks later and no word back from the "rep" that its obvious this is a huge problem and opens the door for thieves and conmen to abuse the "3rd party" contractor network with no verification method.
