Connecting a static IP

For the stable operation of the mail server, I need a static IP address. In the technical support chat, I was told that I have to pay for a minimum of 8 IP addresses. To connect, I have to schedule a visit from a technician.

Question 1 - can I connect remotely, don't expect a technician visit.?

Question 2 - is it possible to pay for less than 8 IP addresses?

I expect yes… if told a tech has to perform the installation, standard service call is $99.

This is an add on product like someone ordering home phone after internet installation is completed. A separate installation with billable installation charge.

@Vlad_Kalin

Your biggest issue is not the Static IP block but getting TCP Port 25 open for outbound service if you need it for your mail server function.

Yes even with a Static Public IP.

I had thought that you understood that you would not be able to make connections to port 25. You did not understand that?

the smallest block of static IPs is 8 with five usable…

cost $15 per month

Static IPs are considered part of business services, requires a tech installation with $99 installation charge. Business are not allowed self install option.

I will also mention that Enterprise accounts are considered business accounts. Enterprise is purchasing service thru a reseller of the product, one example is EarthLink.

I need to set a static IP address on my home network.

I am not affiliated with any company.

Will I be required to pay an additional $100 for the visit of specialist?

@Vlad_Kalin , clarify, please: Do you need a private static address or a public static address?

If you cannot answer that, please provide a very detailed explanation of what you will be doing with this IP address so that maybe we can answer this question for you.

The mention of "operation of an e-mail server" leads me to believe you have bigger problems than just needing a static address, public or otherwise.

Do you have a residential or a business account?

FTR, everything my thoughts has said above is true:

1) At last check, a /29 static address block was $15/month

2) It contains 8 addresses, but 3 are reserved leaving 5 usable

3) The policy is that it requires professional installation by an installer (but I have no idea why this policy exists; the installer adds zero value to the equation) for a cost of $99.  The "professional installation" involves keying the numbers into the web interface of the gateway.

The "bigger problems" to which I was referring.

dave006 - You were right!

I can't get my SMTP server to send mail on port 587 or 465

All settings are correct.

Some details on what this means would be helpful.  Any error messages your server is giving you is an absolute minimum.
