New Microcell Says Software Update Error During Activation

During the second stage of activation for my Microcell (new black model) I received the message "Software Update Error".

 

I followed the instructions but nothing is happening. I still have the bold red error message and activation is not progressing.

You do not state that your Mcell was connected directly to your modem when you where able to temporarily establish an activation.  If this is the case, then it is agreed that your router isn't the issue.

 

I would agree that the next step would be to replace the Mcell with another one and see if this solves your problem.  If the new one doesn't remain connected (and I'd try it connected directly to your modem first) then your ISP may be the source of your problem.

The Microcell has been only connected to the router.

It has worked properly several times but only for a short time. Resetting would give service for a while but would be lost again. It has been working now for over 24 hours so I'm hoping all is well now.

If your problem happens again, take the router out of the loop temporarily and connect the Mcell directly to the modem and test again.

Agreed. That will rule out any router config issues.
