What are the instructions to unlock for active military?

I’m being deployed overseas and need to unlock my phone to use for a different carrier while I’m there and I found that another carrier provides service there can I unlock my phone use another carrier and still pay my installments on the phones?

FWhen submitting an unlock device request online, make sure to select Yes when asked if you’re deployed military. We’ll ask for your temporary or permanent change of station (TCS or PCS) military documents. If you have an installment plan, you’ll still pay your bill as normal. But you don’t have to pay off your installment plan before you can unlock your device.

So should I cancel my service so I won’t be charged for a service I can not use and will they unlock both my IPhones on my plan so I can take with me overseas on another carrier?
