Unlocking a used iPhone

Unfortunately, that won’t prove the phone is locked to ATT, it only proves the phone is locked to somebody. If you then put an ATT SIM card into the phone and it gets service, then it is locked to ATT. There are also websites where you can enter the imei and it will tell you whether or not it is locked and to who. You would need to google those sites.

- If it is locked to AT&T, how can I figure out what the problem is in order to unlock it? (It was purchased used, and is more than 2 years old, so I would expect post paid plans to be already paid for.) If it is locked to ATT, that message usually means the phone was never activated on ATT and ATT has no record of it. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the solution is.
