Hey there @Mohsinauto!

Sorry for the trouble with your iPad! We do not lock iPads to our network, however it is possible that it may have become SIM locked or PUK code locked, which is slightly different.

You can learn more about these locks by going to this cool article by Apple:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201529

If you end up needing a PUK code, you can get the one for your iPad here:

https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1011771

In rare instances, if you have warrantied out the device with Apple, previously, sometimes the carrier information can be applied incorrectly. If this has happened please notify Apple, so they may correct this for you ASAP!

Thanks for reaching out! Have a wonderful day!

Hello Kevin,

I have the same issue with my ipad and so I tried your suggestions.  I read the Apple article about unlocking the SIM card but it seems to relate only iphones.  I was not able to find a "phone" site on the ipad.  To check, I followed the instructions for the phone and ability to turn the SIM Pin on and off was there.  If the ipad is not locked by ATT would another carrier's SIM card just work?  I guess I'm trying to ask how I can tell whether the ipad is locked or not.

Hello @LydiaB,

Welcome to the Community Forums! I will be more than happy to answer this for you.

Since iPads are not locked to our network, you should be able to place another carrier’s SIM card into it. If your iPad has an embedded SIM, this option may not work. To find out more on this, please visit Apples Support article.

I hope this information helps you! Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. We are eager to assist you!

@Mohsinauto  The internal bands are not changeable.  The are built in to each device.

Ipads are not made by ATT, they are not specific to ATT and not locked to ATT.

ATT cannot help you.

There is nothing wrong with your iPad.  If it doesn't work, it has nothing to do with ATT or APPLE

@Niky79  Not an ATT issue.,  if the iPad is iCloud locked it was done by the previous owner and you need to contact that person to remove the lock.

Neither ATT or Apple can or will help you.

The person can remove the lock remotely on iCloud.com by erasing the device from their iCloud account.
