Since ATT is a US carrier, the website isn't accessible outside the United States. Some people have suggested using a VPN, but the bottom line is that the website is working as designed. You can call +1.314.925.6925 to speak to International support and make changes to your plan while abroad.

This is ridiculous. We should be able to access the ATT website from outside the US. So what if it is a US carrier? I can access my bank website, and many other companies' websites. For a technological company, ATT is very poor at providing good service to its customers

This issue has been discussed several years ago. But I still don't understand why we can't log in to an ATT website from abroad. I saw some posting that it is because of some federal regulation. There may be some regulation, but certainly there is no federal law that prohibits one to view their account, check their balances, see their data usage, pay bills. So I don't understand why we can't log in to some ATT website to do just that from abroad. It is ridiculous and poor customer service.

Because the number of legitimate US customers who need to access the website outside the country are far outnumbered by the international criminals and hackers who want to access your AT&T account. It's easier to block everyone outside the US than try to block individual addresses who might try to hack it.

Yes you are allowed to view your account. But nothing requires them to permit access to it while out of country. They are allowed to block access abroad to protect against international criminals.

I cannot view my account because I can't log in when I'm outside the country. People have commented they do this to protect our accounts from international criminals. I'm sure there are ways to protect our accounts as much as possible. If not, we wouldn't be able to access other accounts (e.g. bank accounts) when abroad. Of course, with added protection such as answering a question besides using a password. In any case, they could make the website so that information can be viewed, and any changes to be made to the account from abroad would require some further check in. Having to call them to check on your account is ridiculous. You can't view your usage or see any information about your account when you call in. I will check with my friends who have other carriers if they have the same issue and can't log in to see their accounts when they are traveling outside the country.

AT&T does lean into protection vs customer convenience. I feel that is why they used to be the only provider that was allowed the iPhone because of similar practices. In the end they aren't violating any regulation or such but acting within their rights, as much as some don't like this particular decision.
If that doesn't work for you then certainly find another provider that meets what you are looking for.
