texting on an ipad with at&t account
I have 3 Ipads and zero cell phones. (I don't know why.)
I have an AT&T account to use with the Ipad when out of range of Wifi.
I can not send non-apple text messages on the Ipad.
I would like to use the AT& T account to send and receive text.
Can I and, if so, how?

You can't. iPads are data only and iMessage is the only form of messaging available. Which means only to other Apple devices.

You would have to add a third party app like Skype or viber, which provides a “phone number” to use for text.
