Sim failure error message
I’ve started getting a SIM failure pop up message every 10 seconds. I did a network restore which helped for about 24 hours, until I rebooted. Now it’s back.
I do not have a SIM card. Have been told I do not need one. I’m using an iPad Pro.
help!

Hi @Wcc101662,
Thanks for reaching out! We'd love to assist.
We'll need additional information in order to assist you. Does your iPad have cellular capabilities? Which iPad are you using specifically? When did you begin experiencing this issue? Any additional information will help us determine why you're seeing this error message. We look forward to your response!

Hello. I have an iPad Pro 11 inch, model MU162LL/A with cellular.
I’ve seen this error intermittently for months, but just this past week it started popping up relentlessly. I researched and found a suggestion that I do a network reset, which I did. It worked!! That is, until I rebooted. The problem came back with a vengeance. So I did a reset again and haven’t rebooted in a couple of days.
I remember I had an issue when I first got this iPad...it was something to do with the lack of a SIM, and I took it to the ATT store. The guy there couldn’t figure it out, but then he changed the cellular number associated with it, and it was fine after that.
Except, I frequently have issues with the cellular data not working....it will show absolutely nothing in the cellular settings. Like it doesn’t recognize that I have cellular. Sometimes rebooting will fix it, sometimes I give up.
I think that’s all I have that seems relevant.
thanks.

Hi @Wcc101662,
Thank you for clarifying for us.
So it's safe to bet that you are using an eSIM for your cellular needs? Are you able to set it as your primary number, if this is the case? This may not be possible because you typically need a physical SIM and eSIM together to do this. Have you tried inserting a SIM card into your device to see if this gets the error message to go away?
Right now we're trying to figure out how this error message is popping up while you're already using cellular service. We look forward to your response!

Hello
i had never heaRd of eSim so I researched it. When I went to Cellular Data to try it, there’s nothing showing under Cellular at all. Blank page. Cellular data is turned on, and I rebooted, reset network. My phone works fine.
the only SIM card I have is in my phone...should I put it in the iPad and see if it works?

Hello @Wcc101662,
It would be best to purchase a SIM compatible for your iPad 11 Pro.
Your iPad 11 Pro support NANO SIM.
To confirm, you did purchase a data plan for your iPad 11 Pro?

Yes, I have a data plan. It’s been unreliable since I got this iPad and signed up with ATT. Works with WiFi but now even after resetting everything the error message pops up every 5 seconds. Literally.
I guess I can just buy a SIM card wherever I can? Does it have to be from ATT?
