What are you looking to do with this “mns” setting?  I’ve never seen it on an iPhone.  It may be there, but called something else.

It's disabled by AT&T. If you go somewhere that you're paying extra roaming, it should magically appear there (Settings--> Cellular --> Network Selection).

If you call, you can sometimes get them to turn it on. If I recall correctly, it's by IMEI number, so you need to get it turned back on with each new phone.

Hello @Knightfisher, we're happy to provide information on the options to enable MNS on your iPhone 12 Pro Max.

MNS allows you to manually detect available networks and choose which network to connect to. We provide coverage for most of the country using our own network and for some places where we don’t have our own network we provide coverage by contracting with a carrier who has coverage in that area. We call these areas off-net coverage.

As mentioned by, @Gary L follow the below steps to to select a carrier

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Network Selection.
  2. Choose from the list of available carriers that appear.
  3. After selecting the Carrier you want, go back to the main Settings screen and wait for your iPhone to connect to the network

If you still have questions meet us back here and we can meet in a DM to take a look into your settings further. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

@Gary L  Do you have to have Roaming On? I don't see that option on my iPhone 12 but I have Roaming Off.

@OttoPylot

Even with Roaming off, since I've had MNS enabled, I can choose my network when in the US (I just verified for you).

Looking now, I'm just choosing between 5 indistinguishable "AT&T" options (do you think those are 5 different towers?).

I'm often near the Canadian border (or as Steve Perry calls it, "South Detroit"), and sometimes it's jumping around to somewhere not very helpful, so I got it enabled.

@Gary L  I don't have that option at all on my iPhone 12 (15.6) unless it's an option offered on the Pro or 13 models. That's why I asked about Roaming, because I leave that Off.

@OttoPylot The option isn't there unless you're somewhere that you're paying for roaming internationally OR if you get AT&T to enable it on your account.

If I went to Canada, it didn't show, but when I was in Costa Rica (IIRC) it would show up automatically (the was before CR was included in Elite/Premium).

But now that I've called AT&T and had it enabled, I can see the menu item all the time.

@Gary L  Got it. Any issues with getting AT&T to enable it? I get very nervous when I ask AT&T to do anything with my account? Any extra charges? Thanks.
