IPhone x carrier unlock

So I recently got a used iPhone x from a friend. I filled out the info to get my phone unlocked, and my request got approved. When I insert my sim card it still says SIM not supported. Anyone know why? It worked on an iphone 8 plus that used to be locked. Im using TracFone under Straightalk.

There are a couple of possibilities. The first is that it can take an additional 24 hours for Apple to update its servers. The unlock is actually completed by Apple not by AT&T. AT&T only tells Apple that they have given you permission to unlock your phone. Until your phone connect to Apple servers and receive the information that it is unlocked , your phone will remain locked to AT&T .

Sometimes it is as simple as connecting your phone to Apple via Wi-Fi.

The other possibility is that there was a miscommunication of your IMEI either on AT&T or apples end, and your phone has not received permission or not updated by Apple that you can unlock.  If this is the case The Simple Solution is just to request an unlock again, and hope that both AT&T and apple get the IMEI correct this time.

You shouldn’t even need the phone unlocked to use on Tracfone. They are an ATT MVNO. Might be some other issue.

Tracfone uses multiple carriers, so if using a Verizon sim, he does need it unlocked
