iPhone X Approved Carrier Unlock But No Service On Automatic or Manual Carrier with AT&T Sim

Hello AT&T/ATTCares,

 

I have recently received an approved unlock for my iPhone X and followed the instructions of activating the unlock using my SIM card by backing up my iPhone, erasing and restoring. 

 

I assume the unlock was successful because I received confirmation and I am able to select a carrier from my settings menu. However, I have no service no matter which carrier I choose (whether automatic or manual selection). It is very frustrating because I am on holiday out of the US and the WiFi is terrible (worse than restaurant WiFi). I do not have access to a computer or iTunes so I had to do everything over WiFi. It took an entire day to back up my phone then another day to reinstall the back up and all the apps. I’ve had to unload a majority of my apps thinking upon completion it would make my signal work with my SIM card but no cigar.

 

I am almost halfway through my trip and still am unable to get in contact with my family back home unless connected to WiFi. Please help. Will send IMEI.

Yes, carrier settings and iPhone is up to date.

You wasted your time unlocking your phone. Unlocked means you can use a SIM card from a different carrier. Since you are still using your ATT SIM card, your issue has nothing to do with unlocking. Most likely, your line does not have International roaming enabled. If you are able to access your account, make sure the international “pay per use” feature is on your line. If you can’t do it, you need to contact customer support via phone or chat.
