installment plans

I have decided to get the 15 pro max! I'm currently paying for my 14 pro max on installment plans at AT&T for 36 months for $2.78/mo. I got $1000 off the 14pm cause of a trade in a device.  I didn't plan on upgrading but I just decided to. Obviously I don't want to pay off my high balance on my 14pm which is $720. I know I can trade my 14pm into apple while still having a balance on the 14pm through at&t but can I still pay the same amount ($2.78) on the installment plan? So basically pay for the 15 pro max ($22.87/mo) plus the att installment balance ($2.78)?

Yes, you just have to keep paying the installment plan on the 14 to continue getting credits. There is no requirement to use the 14. You can not have two installment plans, though, so don’t buy from ATT.

When you get your new phone, you're going to transfer your data and your e-Sim from the 14 to the 15. And then you're going to hand over the 14 to Apple for a lump sum credit against the 15.

AT&T does not care what phone you use as long as you are paying the bill that you owe them.

People break phones, lose phones, get a gift phone, or just want to use a different phone on occasion and switch their phone service back and forth. I'm one of those. I'm an Android person but I always had more than one Android phone and would move my SIM card on a regular basis.

In my experience, they don’t care as long as you keep paying for the 14 on your monthly bill, and keep the minimum $75 unlimited data plan.  But, as noted, you will have to buy the phone from Apple or somewhere else.  I had an iPhone 12 on the credit promotion that I traded in to Apple the following year for a new 13.  I just kept paying my monthly installment for the 12, and kept getting the monthly credit, until the 12 was paid off.  I think my account even showed that I had a 13 under my device.

But, that was a couple of years ago, and don’t know if it’s different now.  Also, was using a physical SIM, that was just swapped, and I paid full price up front at Apple, so there was no SIM included.
