I am upgrading a very old phone to a new one - do I need a new SIM card?

I am upgrading an iphone 5 and iphone 5c to an iphone 11/SE. Can I use the SIM cards in my 5/5c for the new phones or do I need to get new ones?

The SIM size is compatible.  The 5 was the first iPhone with the nano-SIM that subsequent iPhones used.

However, you likely do need new SIM cards to get full functionality out of the new phones. The old sims may not support VoLTE or WiFi calling. When my wife upgraded from an iPhone 5 to the first SE several years ago, it needed a new SIM card to get VoLTE and WiFi calling.
