Getting texts and calls from a stranger- using my husband's number?

I have gotten texts and calls from a stranger- using my husband's number. It shows up as a call/text from him. If I try to call or text back, it goes to whoever this person is, but then it'll suddenly stop and go to my husband like normal. How can I prevent this from happening?
