E-sim reinstall while abroad

Hi, I’m having trouble. I had to reset my device and I lost my e-sim for my US AT&T number. I’m in Argentina currently and will be away from the US for 6+ months.

I tried to reinstall from my AT&T account, but it says it’s unable to download and to call, however I don’t have an active number to place a call. Is there anything I can do? Thank you.

Hey @Jacobe96, we want to help with your eSIM inquiry.

What type of device is this related to?

  • If you have an android, you'll need the original activation card that contains your QR code. From there you should be able to download your eSIM. If you no longer have the activation card, you'll need to visit an AT&T store to obtain a new one.
  • For Apple devices, follow these instructions to download your eSIM on your device:
    • Open Settings.
    • Select AT&T Cellular Plan Ready to be Installed. (It may be inside the More for Your iPhone notification group.)
    • Follow the prompts.

For additional assistance while you're out of the country call +1.314.925.6925 or chat with us

Thanks for visiting our community!

If you are outside the u.s.a., I don't believe either of these actions will work because you have to be connected to the AT&T network to do so.

Travelers need to be warned that they should absolutely not factory reset their device if they are using an esim

Things like this happening is why I would never make my AT&T SIM into an eSIM.

I was able to chat w/ AT&T and was told that they no longer allow e-sim support over chat.. very cool. I appear to be locked out on all fronts, unfortunately. I was, however, able to request a physical e-sim (QR code I assume) to my US address. Hopefully I can have a friend send me a pic of that to scan? Not sure if it’ll work.
