We're happy to help with your Device Unlock request, @chrisneyo

The confirmation email is titled "We got your device unlock request" and is usually received within minutes of submitting the request. Please check to see if it was routed to your spam or junk folder. If you still don't see the email, please submit another request. If you're an AT&T customer and the request is associated with an active device on your account, then you don't need to respond to the email. If it's not associated with an active line, then the request will be cancelled after 24 hours if it has not been confirmed.

****Please note that it can take 7 business days or longer to process a Device Unlock request.

Personal device requirements:

  • Is an AT&T phone or device and isn’t active on another AT&T account.
  • Was paid in full when you bought it (not on an installment plan). You won’t have to wait 60 days to unlock it.
  • Has a paid-off installment plan.
  • Paid through your monthly bill: Submit your unlock request at the start of your next bill period.
  • Paid off early: The wireless number assigned to the device must be active for at least 60 days.
  • Wait 48 hours after you make your final payment to submit your unlock request. Learn how pay off your installment plan.
  • Doesn’t have a past-due account balance. Make a payment to bring your account current. It will take 24 hours for your payment to post.
  • Hasn’t been reported as lost, stolen, or involved with fraud.
  • Is an AT&T PREPAID phone that has had paid service for at least six months.

Check the status of your request by:

  • Go to our Status Portal.
  • Enter your IMEI Number & Request Number.
  • Follow the prompts.

Learn more about how our Device Unlock process works.

Thanks for visiting our Community Forums! Let us know how this information helps.

I'm in the same situation as u I bought one from somebody that was supposed to be unlocked and turned out to be locked by AT&t and it was supposed to be a present for my father's birthday I spent $300 on it and I am very upset  that the company won't unlock for me seriously

I just sent a request for my I Phone to be unlocked yesterday, Saturday, and I have not received an email yet. I tried to check to status but it's asking for the request number and I was never given one. Is AT&T going to give me a hard time unlocking my phone that I just paid over $700 to pay it off Saturday?

I also am having the same issue. I want to sell my old iPhone 7 but it's still locked. (I no longer have at&t, I have StraightTalk now with my new device.) I never received the email from at&t for the confirmation. I checked ALL email folders. It says if I don't receive an email that I need to put in a new request. When I try to do that it says I CAN'T put in a new request because I already have a request pending...this makes no sense. Can someone from at&t please help me??

That’s weird I’m also having the same issue. I just bought a phone from someone who said it could easily be unlocked and I followed all the steps correctly and I meet all the requirements to unlock my device. My ONLY problem is I never received the email from at&t for the confirmation which means I can’t go forward with the unlock . I checked ALL email folders. It says if I don't receive an email that I need to put in a new request but when I try to do that it says I CAN'T put in a new request because I already have a request pending... This is ridiculously frustrating and it makes no sense. Can someone from at&t please help me?
