Delayed notifications from apps & messages

For quite a few weeks I’ve been having an issue with delayed notifications. The first time I receive the notification it will say something like “5 min ago” or “9 min ago” etc. The time varies, but they are intermittently delayed. I cannot make it happen on demand. It is happening with apps and text messages. I am also having an issue where my iMessages will be received delayed and will also come through as a text message and iMessage. It doesn’t matter if I’m on Wi-Fi, 5G, etc. I have been to Apple 4 times, have gotten a new SIM card and have gotten an entirely new phone. Nothing is helping. I have reset the phone, tried restoring from a backup and restoring from Apple ID. I have gone through every diagnostic and settings option possible. Apple is saying my only next step may be to start over with a completely new Apple ID in which case I will have to start over brand new. Has anyone experienced this or have a solution? Thank you!

Definitely not just AZ specific. In California and have been having the same

issues for over 2 months now. Almost seems like when 16.3.1 came out. All my other friends and family who have different providers have no problems. Have to forces iMessage thru as texts, And it’s only with others who have att, it Goes thru fine with other carriers.  Also FIND MY isn’t updated immediately-and  Apps are lagging. May just move my service somewhere else if there isn’t a fix to this soon. Apple and att need to get together and figure this s**t out 😑glad it’s not just me, I’ve googled and googles and can’t find any fix. Reset network settings Etc. hope a fix comes soon or bye bye att

I can’t believe AT&T hasn’t done anything about it. For me it doesn’t happen only when the phone isn’t in use. I could be playing games or browsing and the notification will come in and say something like “7 min ago.”

@Muhree me too. It happens more frequently when my phone is locked but does still also happen when it’s unlocked. I don’t know how they can keep ignoring it

I’ve having this problem too since November 2022 I had an iPhone 12 and then upgrade to iphone 14 pro and still the same problem I thought it was just my phone but seems it’s Arizona problem, I live in Peoria and my messages and notifications are 5-10 minutes delay even I don’t use iMessage anymore at all I use telegram or WhatsApp to message but even these applications get sometimes delay notifications it so frustrating, I already went to ATT Twice and Apple Store 1 time and no solution yet.

I was in Colorado for about a month. Flew back to Arizona tonight and my very first text received was delayed. Didn’t have one delayed notification the entire time I was in Colorado. So frustrating.

Has anyone seen an improvement with iOS 16.4? I am still having the same delayed notifications/message issue after the update. AT&T has been impossible to deal with. Not sure what to do next...

@rckyski no update has helped mine yet. The only thing to help is if you’re on Wi-Fi you can turn off your cellular data and they notifications will not be delayed. but you have to remember to turn the cellular data back on once you’re off Wi-Fi or your phone wont work.

iPhone 14 pro max/ 1tb

I have been to Apple with this situation and my phone was under warranty. They switch everything out except for my front camera and it still persists to do the same thing. It’s been happing to me ever since January and I barely took my phone in last week. This new update still hasn’t fixed the problem and with my problem it’s late notifications, messages delayed, find my iPhone sometimes glitches, most of my notifications will come on time but some do have a lag of about 2-8 mins. I don’t know what to do, I’ve reset my whole phone, reset network settings, turned off and on my phone, etc. only thing left to do is set up my phone as a new phone and not back anything up at all which would basically mean erase all my data, passwords, everything. It’s been annoying not getting notifications on time, especially when it’s time sensitive when I can’t send messages and receive them.

@loquacious1518 Don’t bother resetting your phone and losing everything. It still won’t fix the issue. It has been identified as an issue between AT&T and the Apple iOS 16 update so resetting and potentially losing all of your info isn’t worth it. If they do not come up with a response and estimated time of fixing the issue the only option left is to switch to a different carrier, which I will be doing. My job also requires me to get time sensitive information which I am missing so there’s no choice left. I went to Apple 8 different times since November and there is nothing they can do about it. It’s a connection issue between AT&T and Apple iPhone iOS 16 and above
