Delayed notifications from apps & messages
For quite a few weeks I’ve been having an issue with delayed notifications. The first time I receive the notification it will say something like “5 min ago” or “9 min ago” etc. The time varies, but they are intermittently delayed. I cannot make it happen on demand. It is happening with apps and text messages. I am also having an issue where my iMessages will be received delayed and will also come through as a text message and iMessage. It doesn’t matter if I’m on Wi-Fi, 5G, etc. I have been to Apple 4 times, have gotten a new SIM card and have gotten an entirely new phone. Nothing is helping. I have reset the phone, tried restoring from a backup and restoring from Apple ID. I have gone through every diagnostic and settings option possible. Apple is saying my only next step may be to start over with a completely new Apple ID in which case I will have to start over brand new. Has anyone experienced this or have a solution? Thank you!

Cartern are you located in AZ as well? Trying to figure out if this is an issue specific to this area or global. I'm just surprised AT&T hasn't heard more customers talking about this. I've been to 2-3 different AT&T retail stores and they all say the same thing "Towers are getting some upgrades to 5G, might impact but we don't have any customers documenting this issue".

I sure am from AZ. I've got multiple people on AT&T also telling me about this issue. It's getting quite ridiculous. It happens while on WIFI too, which doesn't make sense.

Got my new phone and the issue is still happening. Def AT&T related, not Apple... and seems to be restricted to the AZ area.

Well, I went into an AT&T store yesterday to see if I could cancel and switch to another provider, but of course I just got new phones (as a recommendation by THEM to try and fix the problem by the way) and he said I’d have to buy out my phones to cancel, which is ridiculous. So I’m pretty much stuck with AT&T now. Grrr!!! Anyways, long story short, the guy finally admitted (or confirmed what we already knew) that there is an issue between AT&T and Apple since the iOS 16.2 update. Not sure how true that is since it seems to only be happening in Arizona but maybe it’s something to do with our cell towers here. He said there is a ticket in to get things resolved (whatever that actually means) but no estimated resolution as of yet. I mean I would imagine that at least 50% of AT&T customers are Apple users (and probably even more than that) so it seems kind of ridiculous that half of their customers are having problems. How has this not been fixed yet?
So I will have to continue with these issues and pray they get it fixed soon or that they release some sort of statement allowing customers to cancel early. They aren’t holding up their end of the “service agreement” so I feel like we should all be able to leave and go somewhere else

@Anonymousinaz thanks for the update! I’m going out of town this weekend, but once I get back I’m going to go into the store too and tell them if it doesn’t get fixed soon I’m going to a different company. I agree, they aren’t holding up their end so we should be allowed to leave!

No shocker -- still happening days later. My girlfriend sent me a message this morning that was timestamped from 15 minutes ago. Have not been able to get into AT&T but will make the stop this weekend. Will report back once I have more details.

Same exact problem here, notifications are delayed unless I am actively on my phone. It started right after iOS 16.1.2. I have reset everything, switched Apple ID's, restored without data, restored with data, got a new phone, turned everything off then back on, got a new SIM, switched to e-sim and nothing has worked. My Verizon work phone doesn't have this problem. This is so frustrating... Also in AZ...

I am currently in Michigan for the weekend and since I turned my phone back on after I landed here from AZ, all of my notifications have came through immediately. Definitely an AZ problem. They need to do something about it!!!

Here to join the train of the exact issues everyone else is describing. Located in North Scottsdale as well. I’m planning on switching to Verizon at this point.

Back in AZ from traveling out of state, and the issue is happening again (as I expected). So sick of this. Also planning on switching to Verizon if it’s not resolved soon.
