Could I get a QR code for my esim?

Could somebody on the AT&T team email/personal message me a QR code for my esim?

AT&T doesn't email or text message eSIM QR codes. You need to get a physical card, just like a regular SIM card. You can get one from an AT&T store or order one online.

Isn't the whole point of the esim technology to make switching easier, why would you make customers to come to a store and waste resources when it could be done remotely and paperless?

That's different from what I found on this forum. I've seen many posts
where people say that they initiated a live chat and had the service rep
email a QR code to them. Clarification please?

I'd like to see one of those forum posts where someone said that actually worked because this is the official response to that request a month ago: https://forums.att.com/t5/Apple/ESIM/m-p/5936181

The response from other customers here was the same in June https://forums.att.com/t5/Apple/eSIM-activation/m-p/5904460

And here's the official current answer on the website:

For iPhone® XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR:

  1. Order your eSIM activation card.

But if you still don't believe me, then use the "Contact Us" link above, click chat, and ask someone from AT&T.

What @QuarryRye has said is all true..  ATT charges a fee for the esim card also.

I tried switching to esim over phone and now I am locked out. The customer support told me it would just take 10min to upto 60min for it to work. Its been 12hrs and I am still stuck with no service. None of the procedures mentioned on att website works now as they deactivated my physical sim and didn't activate esim. Once again pathetic customer support by AT&T.

Hi there @AkashRaj, we'll be happy to help get your eSIM set up.

If you haven't already manually activated your eSIM after making the switch, try following the steps for activating your eSIM. The specific steps change depending on the type of device you have, and a QR code may be required for activation.

You can get an eSIM QR code by visiting one of our stores, which you can find by using our store locator. Since your physical SIM card was deactivated, you'll have to go into a store to get a replacement as well.

If you have any further questions, please let us know by creating a new thread. This current thread is old, and may be closed at any time. Thanks for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

I'm an American, living in another country. It looks like there is no way for me to get an eSIM card with AT&T until I go back to America to get a physical eSim card. Is this really true? If so, eSIM is pointless for me and for everyone else living abroad. Get it together, AT&T.
