Can't get cell service from ATT
1. My phone was stolen Friday night. Yes stolen not lost very upsetting to be robbed.
2. Called ATT Saturday morning. Agent said that iphone 7 plus jet black in stock will ship. (Yippee)
3. After a long 45 minutes he said phone won't ship until December (Not Yippee).
4. Trip to best buy to get burner.
5. Call ATT to hook up ATT go phone (burner)
6. Won't hook up because pending order of iphone 7 plus preventing it.
7. ATT agent cancels order so that the go phone will activate. After long hold says the order won't cancel for 24 hours.
8. Call back in 24 hours. Agent says (after very long hold) that its actually 48 hours.
9 Call back in 55 hours. Agent says (after very long hold) that the iphone 7 orders have clobberred the system. But don't worry its normally 48 hours so it should just be a matter of days. Says they will call me when its cancelled so that I can get service on the go phone (burner).
10. days have gone by no call from ATT.
11. Figured out how to check order status on web. Order still pending after 5 days. I still don't have cell service on go phone or any phone since I won't have phone until December.
12. Reading as many posts as I can to figure this all out.
13. Read post that orders actually can't be cancelled because it would slow down the orders of people that orderred. Its just a simple matter of refusing the shipment when it arrives.
14. Its Sept 21 and my order will arrive sometime in December. So I can't refuse shipment until 3 months from now.
15 Can't get service for 3 months or so.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! I've been with ATT wireless the entire time since you could get a cell phone. I was with the original ATT wireless and then Cingular bought them and changed their name to ATT wireless so I'm a lifer and nobody can assist me.

Why not get a simple burner phone from another provider like T-Mobile, for example, as an interim phone until you get your iPhone 7 from AT&T.
Also have you worked through this procedure from Apple for a stolen phone?
If your iPhone is stolen or lost

Does your burner phone actually need to be activated or are you just trying to get a SIM card activated? If the latter, I would think going to an ATT corporate store would be the way to go. They should be able to provide a new SIM card regardless of whether you have an order for a new phone or not.

The situation is that I have a lot of people that I do business with and friends that have me in their contact list. I don't want to have to notify everybody that I have a new phone number (and what about stationary). If they can get me another simm card and use my existing number then great problem solved. Keep in mind this is a bran spanking new phone that's never been activated and it came with a simm card. I gave all the simm card numbers etc to ATT with no luck. A trip to ATT corporate will be worthwhile regardless. I also tried to get ATT to escalate and go through the back door sort of speak to cancel my order but the agent I talked to said he would try but couldn't guarantee anything. Seems like somebody there would be able to help me and yes they are trying but no luck.

ATT corporate store solved it. Waste of time dealing with the customer service number. They were supposed to call me back a couple of times and they never did. Pretty much was a complete waste of time. Corporate store had it solved in about 10 minutes with the new simm card. They know what they're doing whereas the customer service phone number people could only constantly give me bad information.
