Buying from ATT Store

What can be done when a worker tells you that your new watch will have its own number aside from your original phone number and when you go into store to ask why it doesn't work, it turns out the worker just lied to you so you could buy it?

We'll be happy to assist you with your smart watch @lilyagui.

There may have been a miscommunication. We do offer NumberSync, which allows you to make and receive calls on your watch, using the phone number associated with your existing phone line. If you are interested in that, please let us know which phone and watch you have and we can provide additional assistance with setting up NumberSync.

However, as @Fl_retire stated, the number associated with the watch is only for billing purposes and the watch itself cannot be used for phone calls without being connected to a phone. If that's a dealbreaker for you, per our return policy, you can return the watch to an AT&T retail store. If you want, we can also submit feedback on the employee.

Please let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll be more than happy to assist! Thanks for reaching out to our AT&T Community.

What do you mean exactly that it doesn't work?

People cannot call the watch number.   After syncing the watch with the phone calls to your phone can be answered on the watch. The number for the watch is for billing purposes.

I was told that my watch would have its own number to call, and that is the reason why i got it. So because of an employee telling me this I bought it, and then it was all a lie.

@lilyagui Do you have an iPhone? Did you pair the AppleWatch with the iPhone for calling? Did you purchase from an AT&T Corporate Store or an AT&T Retail Store?

@lilyagui My Apple Watch has a number for billing purpose but no one can call that number. When someone calls my iPhone my watch rings and I can answer or make calls. When I call someone  the caller ID is my iPhone. Enjoy not having to take my phone when on a run/walk or swimming.
