Unlocked Pixel 6A on 5G+

I'm trying to understand if I need to get the special AT&T Pixel 6a, or if the standard unlocked version available through Google is good enough.

Will I be able to access 5G+ (both sub6 and C band) with the unlocked Pixel 6a?

Is my understanding correct that I would only need the AT&T special version of the Pixel 6a to access mmWave 5G+ ?

Thanks!

Hello Bmars, we're here to help with your Pixel 4A and 5G.

We understand the impact of learning about our new 5G network. AT&T 5G service requires a 5G capable device. You can see our full selection of 5G devices here

The only 6A that is getting mmWave aka 5G+ is the one for Verizon its right on the specs page for the 6a on the google store.  Its also why the Verizon version is 50 bucks more.

Do I need a new "5g" sim card? Am using pixel 4a (not the 5g version) and planning to trade to pixel 6a.

Hello @Bmars, we are here to answer any questions you have on 5G.

There isn't a specific SIM for 5G. You will need to get an AT&T SIM when porting in. To experience 5G service, it must be provided in your area, you must have a capable phone, and be on a compatible AT&T unlimited plan. When in a congested location, you may experience an unstable connection to the network. If you're ever unsure what coverage is available near you just check using our wireless coverage map.

You can find the sim type, for Pixel6 or any other device here.

Thanks @ATTHelp . My husband gets 5g in our area. So in short I just have to plug my sim from pixel 4a to pixel 6a and should get 5g in the same area?
