Unlock App missing

My Samsung phone is supposed to have an unlock app on it. Got prepaid phone, now want to switch carriers. Unlock request must be done through app I cannot download for my version of phone. Anyone else with this problem?

Hi @Patmunk23, we understand your concern. We’re here to help you.

If your device is locked to our network, then you'll need to submit another unlock request.

Please make sure that if your device has the pre-loaded app, then you'll have to send the request through there. Simply open the app, click Unlock, and follow the prompts.

Requirements:

1)      AT&T phone or device and isn’t active on another AT&T account.

2)      Was the device paid in full when you bought it (not on an installment plan). You won’t have to wait 60 days to unlock it.

3)      Has a paid-off installment plan and paid through your monthly bill: Submit your unlock request at the start of your next bill period.

4)      Paid off early: The wireless number assigned to the device must be active for at least 60 days.

5)      Wait 48 hours after you make your final payment to submit your unlock request. Learn how pay off your installment plan.

6)      Doesn’t have a past-due account balance. Make a payment to bring your account current. It will take 24 hours for your payment to post.

7)      Is an AT&T PREPAID phone that has had paid service for at least six months.

A few things to be noted:

  • The incorrect entry of an unlock code too many times during the life of the device disables the unlock ability and permanently locks the device to the network.
  • The number of attempts to unlock the device varies by manufacturer and model.

Our community put together an article to answer some of the most frequently asked questions regarding device unlock request.

We hope this information helps. Thanks for reaching out to our Community Forums!
