Plugged new SIM into old phone, now my new SIM doesnt work in my new phone
I got a refurbished Samsung Galaxy S9 because my old phone is being discontinued for the 5G network upgrades. With this phone came a new SIM card, plugged it in the S9 and worked fine with service. Out of curiosity I plugged in the new SIM card into my old phone to see if it would also get service as well but it did not. When I took the new SIM out and put it back in the S9, I now no longer have service. Did my old phone deactivate my new SIM by chance?

Yes, it deactivated it. It wasn't by chance. AT&T deactivates any SIM when placed in an unsupported phone. Put it back in the S9 and contact AT&T support to get your account reactivated.

It didn’t actually deactivate the new SIM card but it did suspend service on your line. You would need a new SIM card if the SIM card was deactivated. As noted, you need to call to get service restored.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah looks like service was suspended because of it detecting an obsolete device (my old phone). I called support and they re-activated it. Thanks @JefferMC @sandblaster
