new phone

I bought a new phone at Walmart. They said they made a new account with AT&T in order to get the phone working.

then they canceled the account or tried to cancel, and AT&T did not cancel it.

Now AT&T is trying to bill me for an account which does not exist.

You did business with an AT&T Retail outlet, which is not staffed with AT&T employees and is independently owned and operated separate from AT&T. Some Retail outlets have lots of problems and unfortunately, AT&T has little to no control over their business practices or training. You will need to get all of your paperwork in order and either have the Walmart Retail outlet cancel the account they created (if you were an AT&T customer already there was no reason to create a new account) or call AT&T, explain the problem, and see what they can do.

If you can't get it resolved quickly, the file a complaint with the BBB and someone from the AT&T Corporate office will contact you.
