Lollipop update failure for Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337)

Hello all,

I bought the unlocked AT&T version of Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337). Currently, I'm using a different carrier (Go Smart; T-mobile network) with this phone. Everything is ok, but I cannot update my phone into Android 5.0, Lollipop.

I follwed the instructions from here http://www.att.com/esupport/softwareUpdateArticle.jsp?sid=KB419415&cv=820. I tried this via both OTA and KIES 3, however, it always says that "Current software is up to date". Current Android version of my phone is 4.4.2.

Any suggestions for me? Should I put a AT&T sim card into my phone?

Thanks.

see this post and yes you need an active att account with an ATT sim in the phone to update.

Thanks for your answer.

If I just (borrow &) put AT&T sim card from my friend, it will be updated? Do I need to register IMEI of my phone with this sim card?

If not, is it updatable with AT&T prepaid sim card (e.g., GoPhone)?

Thanks!

there are reports of people putting a friends sim card in the phone and it updating.  There are no promises this will work.

As for your gophone idea I have no clue never used prepay service.
